Course Overview
This course enables international doctors to communicate successfully in their daily medical work in Germany, while providing intensive preparation for the Fachsprachprüfung (FSP) — the medical language exam required by regional medical associations (Ärztekammern). The focus is on patient communication through anamnesis interviews and physical examinations, as well as communication with colleagues and superiors through case presentations, differential diagnosis discussions, and conversations with senior physicians. Aspects of intercultural communication in medicine and medical consultation skills — including breaking bad news — are also covered. Prerequisite: successfully completed B2 German exam (Goethe-Institut, telc, TestDaF, or ÖSD).
